YES! Could not agree more. I opted both of my children out last year – and plan to do it again this year. They will not participate. I encourage my FB friends daily to do the same.

How did you opt your children out? Is it simply writing a letter? and did they have to give alternative educational activities?

Last year all I had to do was email the principal that I was opting them out – and they cooperated. They allowed my children to stay home during testing time, and they returned to school once testing was done for the day. I’m hoping it’ll be as easy this year – as my son started middle school and my daughter started high school. freshman are scheduled to do PARCC testing in March – I do not expect her to participate.

Only when parents and students say I have had enough will this end. It can’t be D or R it has to be a unified fight against this madness. Make it a campaign issues in 2016. I am conservative and I hate the over reach by government into our local school systems. I have liberal friends who feel the same way. We need unite.
I envision a #iammorethanatest with kids tweeting and youtube videos saying why they are more than a test. Only way this stops is voters and tax payers saying they have had enough.

I live in NC. I was told that I am not allowed to opt out my child from EOGs. Where can I find more info on this matter so I can opt out my child from the EOGs?

I defiantly agree with what these parents are talking about because it is true that students are taking up way to much time testing and not enough time learning. I am a student myself, and one thing that can tell you is that these test are stressful and don’t show my true potential. When I take tests I get stressed out and don’t preform as well as I do on class work, projects, and even other tests. So much pressure is brought upon kids with these tests that their eagerness and attempt to learn and be the best dies down and is almost never recovered. These test create an unnecessary world of confusion and disappointment; these test do not show your really skill ability and what you are worth.
